Sila Nanotechnologies is a next-generation battery materials company focused on powering the world's transition to clean energy. The company engineers and manufactures advanced battery materials that increase energy density while reducing size and weight, enabling smaller, more powerful batteries for consumer devices and electric vehicles.
The EHS&S Site Manager will oversee all environmental, health, safety, process safety, and sustainability aspects of Sila's Moses Lake facility, which encompasses research, battery operations, development tools, and manufacturing operations. This is a leadership role responsible for building and maintaining a strong safety culture while ensuring regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing all EHS&S programs across the facility, including research, development, and manufacturing areas
- Developing and implementing programs that foster safety culture and environmental stewardship in partnership with stakeholders
- Managing air and water permitting activities and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Providing technical guidance and support to department managers and employees on EHS&S matters, training, and incident response
- Collaborating with property management to align Sila's operations with site requirements
- Developing, improving, and managing EHS&S and Process Safety Management Systems
- Interfacing with operational teams to share best practices and ensure program alignment
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of EHS&S experience with 5+ years in leadership roles. A Bachelor's degree in Safety and Occupational Health or relevant technical discipline is required. The role demands strong leadership, communication, analytical, and mentoring skills, with proven ability to drive safety engagement across organizations. Experience with industrial workplace hazards, hazardous materials, and process scaling is essential. Preferred experience includes high-volume manufacturing in semiconductor, photovoltaic, chemical, or battery industries. Deep knowledge of OSHA, Washington DOSH, NFPA standards, fire codes, CGA standards, and Washington State Department of Ecology regulations is required.
The position requires passing a respirator fit test and wearing respiratory protection daily, along with standard PPE including lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toe shoes. The role involves moving items up to 50 lbs with equipment assistance and traveling between buildings.
