Salary: USD 140,000 - 170,000 / annual
Arc is electrifying the marine industry by rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs. The company has moved from consumer products to scaling production of flagship models and now expanding into commercial applications (tugs, ferries, defense) with signed contracts and a robust pipeline.
As EHS Manager, you will lead and maintain comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety programs across the organization, ensuring regulatory compliance while fostering a strong safety culture. You'll work from Arc's manufacturing facility in Los Angeles in a fast-moving, dynamic startup environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and implementing best-in-class safety initiatives across all organizational levels
- Maintaining occupational safety programs including high-voltage safety, crane safety, chemical management, incident management, industrial ergonomics, hygiene, and air quality
- Managing safety ticketing systems and associated metrics
- Leading accident and incident investigations, analyzing root causes, and implementing preventative actions
- Managing workers' compensation injuries
- Identifying proactive workplace safety opportunities in the manufacturing environment and documenting safety inspections
- Owning hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, including proper handling, labeling, and storage
- Ensuring compliance with safety programs and standards including hazard communication, fall protection, respiratory protection, lockout/tag-out, machine guarding, electrical safety, emergency response, and chemical management
- Working closely with operations leadership, engineers, and employees at all levels
You'll need a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Safety Management, Occupational Safety, or related field (or equivalent work experience), plus 3+ years managing and implementing EHS programs in engineering or manufacturing environments. Strong working knowledge of OSHA, CalOSHA, EPA, CUPA, SCAQMD, and NIOSH regulations is required, along with ANSI standards knowledge.
Bonus qualifications include startup or high-growth company experience, experience establishing safety culture in young organizations, hardware manufacturing background, comfort with a fast but sustainable pace, and enthusiasm for boating and clean energy.
