Salary: USD 220,000 - 292,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, seeks a Director of Test & Evaluation – Robotics to lead executive and technical oversight of Test Operations, Test Engineering, and Test Automation teams. This role is responsible for end-to-end test and evaluation of multi-domain unmanned hardware, driving integration and validation of Lattice Command & Control (C2) and Collaborative Autonomy (CA) capabilities.
Key responsibilities include leading the Flight Test Team and Test Engineering Team with technical guidance and mentorship; establishing and refining flight test methodologies for evaluating mission autonomy using surrogate vehicles in fast-paced environments; developing long-term capacity planning for flight test capabilities to support future product initiatives; driving verification and validation of Lattice C2 and Collaborative Autonomy behaviors; architecting and scaling automated SIL, HIL, and regression test pipelines; overseeing live test execution, test infrastructure, range safety protocols, instrumentation, and real-time telemetry pipelines; driving cross-functional collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Program Management; cultivating a strong organizational foundation focused on safety standards and regulatory adherence; ensuring compliance with FAA, FCC, and other regulatory requirements; managing resource allocation, budgeting, and scheduling for flight test campaigns; and creating standardized processes, metrics, and KPIs to measure test effectiveness.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, robotics, or related field; 10+ years of experience testing unmanned aerial systems with at least 5 years in a leadership position; proven expertise in software and hardware integration for complex autonomous systems; demonstrated success leading flight test operations as a Test Director for mission-critical platforms; strong understanding of aviation regulations and compliance for unmanned systems; experience managing technical teams with diverse skill sets; exceptional problem-solving and communication abilities; flexibility for dynamic schedules and travel to test sites; and current FAA Part 107 certification or ability to obtain one. Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree, direct experience with multi-agent collaborative autonomy or swarming architectures, proficiency with modern software tools (Python, C++, Linux, CI/CD, Git), and eligibility for U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance.
