Tanium is seeking a Director of Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting to lead the company's technical accounting and financial reporting functions. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of U.S. GAAP financial statements and footnote disclosures.
You will manage and mentor a team of 2 direct reports while serving as a critical cross-functional partner across finance, tax, legal, and the broader organization. Core responsibilities include owning end-to-end preparation of U.S. GAAP financial statements, staying current on FASB and SEC pronouncements, developing and maintaining corporate accounting policies, and managing non-revenue technical accounting requirements including leasing, capitalized internal-use software, investments, EPS calculations, and FX risk management for multi-currency operations.
You will partner with accounting leadership to establish and evolve a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance framework as the company scales, including risk assessment, control design, documentation, testing, and remediation. Additional responsibilities include serving as the key liaison for external auditors, managing the quarterly 409A valuation process, and driving special projects such as IPO readiness, system migrations, and process automation.
This role requires deep technical accounting expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to drive audit readiness while leveraging AI tools to continuously improve reporting processes. The position is hybrid, requiring a minimum of three days per week in one of five office locations: Addison, TX; Bellevue, WA; Durham, NC; Emeryville, CA; or Reston, VA.
