Squarespace seeks an experienced Director of Strategic Procurement to lead and transform the company's procurement function into a strategic business driver. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance Operations, you will develop and execute enterprise-wide sourcing strategies aligned with organizational goals, build high-value supplier relationships, and drive measurable cost efficiencies across all spend categories.
Key responsibilities include developing a comprehensive procurement vision and multi-year sourcing strategies that balance cost, quality, service, and speed. You will identify opportunities to leverage enterprise-wide purchasing power, support new product delivery through early procurement engagement, and oversee procurement transformation initiatives including process optimization and digital technology adoption. You'll lead complex sourcing initiatives and competitive bid processes for major spend categories, particularly in technology, SaaS/software licensing, cloud infrastructure, IT hardware, marketing, and professional services.
You will establish strategic partnerships with key suppliers, develop performance metrics and scorecards, and lead executive-level negotiations and contract renewals. The role requires managing supplier risk through business continuity planning, analyzing organizational spend to identify efficiencies, and developing annual procurement targets tied to business goals. You'll monitor procurement KPIs, support budgeting and financial planning, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Leadership is central to this role: you will build, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of strategic thinking, accountability, and continuous improvement. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on procurement strategy and market conditions, partnering closely with Finance, Operations, Legal, and Business Unit leaders.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, IT, or related field (MBA preferred); 15+ years of progressive procurement or strategic sourcing experience, including 5+ years at Director level or above; demonstrated expertise in technology-specific spend categories, SaaS/software licensing, and cloud commercial models; strong contract negotiation skills; experience with procurement platforms (Zip, Coupa) and FinOps tools; and deep understanding of vendor risk management, data security, and compliance (SOC 2, GDPR). CPSM, CPM, or CSCP certifications are a plus.
