KOHO Financial is seeking a Director to lead four interconnected pillars of its Compliance function: the Financial Crime Office (Deputy Chief AML Officer), Regulatory Relations, Complaints Management, and second-line Compliance Testing. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, you will own KOHO's financial crime detection and prevention, regulatory engagement strategy, customer complaint resolution, and independent compliance control testing. In the Financial Crime Office role, you will lead KOHO's AML/ATF and sanctions compliance program under the PCMLTFA, overseeing transaction monitoring, alert management, enhanced due diligence, sanctions screening, and suspicious transaction reporting to FINTRAC. You will direct KYC standards, partner with the Financial Intelligence Unit on fraud-crime typology gaps, and own the two-year AML effectiveness review and remediation. For Regulatory Relations, you will serve as the central coordination point with regulators, managing the cadence and quality of regulatory correspondence, leading end-to-end examination management, owning the regulatory findings register, and preparing executives for regulatory meetings. In Complaints Management, you will own the enterprise complaints program including policy, procedures, and escalation pathways. You will oversee escalated complaints, ensure fair and timely resolutions, manage case flow with external complaints bodies, and convert complaint themes into product and process improvements. For Compliance Testing, you will design and deliver KOHO's independent testing program, develop the annual risk-based testing plan, maintain quality assurance over testing outputs (including outsourced work), and report results to senior management and Board committees. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team across financial crime, testing, and complaints, partner with cross-functional teams (Compliance Advisory, Privacy, Operational Risk, Internal Audit, Legal), represent KOHO in industry forums, and drive innovation through AI, machine learning, RPA, and advanced analytics to enhance transaction monitoring, alert triage, complaints classification, and testing automation. Required: 10+ years in AML, financial crime, compliance testing, audit, regulatory relations, or complaints within financial services. Deep knowledge of Canadian consumer protection, AML, retail banking/payments, and privacy legislation. Direct experience managing regulatory examinations and composed under regulatory scrutiny.
