AlphaSense is transforming from a research library into an end-to-end workflow platform powered by AI. The company provides market intelligence and AI-driven search to over 6,000 enterprise customers, including a majority of the S&P 500. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in NYC with 2,000+ employees globally, AlphaSense recently acquired Tegus to expand its capabilities. You will lead the design vision for AlphaSense's most critical frontier: an AI-native, agentic product that enables financial analysts to move seamlessly from question to discovery to synthesis to finished work product (dashboards, decks, models, generated outputs) without leaving the platform. Today, the experience is fragmented across years of incremental features, two search paradigms that haven't converged, and inconsistent AI fluency support. As a player-coach Director, you'll own the UX direction for the core AI/agentic experience, setting a clear, opinionated vision for how analysts work with AI on high-stakes financial decisions. You'll lead a small team of senior designers while staying hands-on with the craft—prototyping in code, contributing directly to high-leverage surfaces, and setting the bar through doing the work, not just reviewing it. Key responsibilities include: defining the UX direction and sequenced path to a north star experience; solving hard, data-dense UX problems (malleable UI with sensible defaults, information overload, trust and transparency in AI workflows, cross-surface cohesion); partnering with an SVP of Product and multiple PMs across NY and UK to advocate for the best experience while navigating business goals and technical constraints; raising the bar for AI-native design across the entire product; contributing to a design system rebuild; coaching and growing a small team of senior designers; hiring and leveling thoughtfully; and communicating persuasively upward with customer evidence and business outcomes. This is a high-impact role where design is a core driver of competitive advantage. You'll shape how customers navigate complexity, build conviction, and make high-stakes financial decisions with confidence.
