You will lead the design, development, and implementation of comprehensive training programs for pharmaceutical sales teams. This role reports to sales leadership and owns the strategy and execution of learning and development initiatives that drive field team effectiveness, clinical acumen, and account management capabilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and deploy advanced learning programs across onboarding, home study, live/virtual training, regional meetings, and national sales conferences
- Establish L&D objectives that translate commercial strategy into actionable behaviors for high-performing field teams
- Collaborate with sales leadership, marketing, commercial operations, market access, HR, and IT to streamline onboarding and accelerate time-to-competency
- Assess knowledge gaps within field teams and develop targeted training initiatives to address them
- Evaluate participant competency and provide detailed feedback; work with sales management on development plans
- Manage vendor partners for content development and deployment
- Ensure all training materials and activities comply with regulatory and legal requirements
- Partner with medical, clinical, legal, and regulatory teams to develop and deliver compliant training
- Conduct presentation skills training for speakers in collaboration with medical and commercial teams
- Manage LMS (Learning Management System) administrators and distance learning technology
- Stay current on new disease state materials and implement timely training rollouts
- Travel as needed for training delivery and national meetings
You will work in a matrix environment, demonstrating strong cross-functional collaboration and the ability to influence without direct authority over all partners.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree required
- 3–5 years of experience in a sales training role within the pharmaceutical or device industry
- Experience delivering training to diverse audiences in a corporate setting
- Strong classroom presence and ability to translate concepts, skills, and knowledge into learning contexts
- Fundamental knowledge of adult learning principles preferred
- Strong platform, presentation, and facilitation skills
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Project management abilities
- Ability to learn new technical, clinical, and medical product and disease state knowledge quickly
- Willingness to travel and overnight availability
- Ability to set goals, meet deadlines, and prioritize
- Problem-solving and idea-generation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- HIV or rare disease pharmaceutical/device experience is a plus
- Preferred: prior selling and/or training experience in pharma/device
