Via is seeking a Director of Strategy & Operations to lead the West Coast regional operations as a significant P&L leadership role. You will initially manage a team of Field Operations Managers, with rapid growth to oversee General Managers and Operations Managers across a high-growth, increasingly complex portfolio.
The West region is in expansion mode, launching new markets, scaling existing contracts, and introducing new service types. You will be responsible for setting and executing regional operating strategy while ensuring safe, reliable, high-quality service delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
Regional Leadership & People Management: Lead, coach, and develop regional teams with clear expectations and accountability. Build leadership depth through hiring, promotion, and performance management. Foster a culture of safety, compliance, operational excellence, and partner trust.
P&L and Performance Ownership: Own regional P&L outcomes in partnership with Finance and market GMs, including revenue hours/rides, cost per ride, labor productivity, and margin improvement. Set regional targets and drive accountability on service reliability, on-time performance, seat availability, safety, driver staffing, vehicle readiness, and customer experience. Conduct root-cause problem solving on underperforming markets and escalate risks with mitigation plans.
Regional Strategy & Growth: Translate regional priorities into actionable market strategies. Lead the region through new service types and operating models. Prioritize resources across markets during launch surges and staffing constraints. Represent Operations in regional strategy discussions with Commercial, Service Design, Product, and Partner Success teams.
Partner & Stakeholder Management: Serve as a senior operational counterpart to agency leadership on high-stakes markets. Build trust through transparent performance reporting and proactive communication. Navigate complex regulatory and contractual environments.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with Commercial, Enablement, Service Design, Safety, Fleet, HR, and Finance to align operational capacity with growth and product roadmap. Influence technology and process adoption to improve regional efficiency.
Required qualifications: 10+ years of operational leadership experience, ideally with P&L responsibility. Proven track record in high-growth or transformation environments, scaling teams, launching new lines of business, or integrating acquisitions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Analytical problem-solving abilities. Comfort in fast-paced, ambiguous environments managing multiple priorities. Operational fluency in people-intensive, regulated, 24/7 businesses with labor planning and safety expertise. Bachelor's degree with exceptional academic and professional achievement. Willingness to travel extensively across West Coast (~25%, higher during launches).
