Defense Unicorns seeks a Director of Space Operations to serve as the single-threaded owner of the Space domain's financial performance, operational health, and mission success. This is a P&L leadership role operating at the intersection of sales and delivery, responsible for translating corporate growth objectives into executable domain strategy.
Key responsibilities include owning the annual revenue target for the Space pod, driving net new revenue, expansions, and cross-sales in partnership with Account Executives and Mission Directors. You will ensure pipeline coverage and forecasting accuracy, collaborate with Marketing and Business Development on collateral and pipeline strategy, and act as the final accountable owner for domain bookings, renewals, and expansions.
On the financial side, you will own domain-level gross profit margins with a target of 65%+ post-time-to-value, balancing early customer outcomes with sustained profitability. You'll partner with Finance, RevOps, and Delivery leadership on staffing models, contract modifications, and revenue recognition.
Delivery excellence is critical: you'll ensure high-quality program delivery measured by customer NPS, government performance evaluations (CPARs), and delivery predictability. You serve as the escalation point for delivery or customer risk and ensure Mission Directors effectively manage onboarding, adoption, and renewals.
Talent leadership is essential—you'll build, retain, and develop high-performing Mission Directors and domain staff, maintain strong retention, address burnout proactively, and foster a culture of ownership and mission obsession. You'll act as the domain's senior leader across Sales, Delivery, Product, and Operations, ensuring tight alignment and representing the domain in executive reviews and strategic planning.
Success is measured on revenue attainment, net new growth, gross profit margin performance, customer satisfaction, government feedback, renewal rates, forecast accuracy, and personnel retention. Active Top Secret Clearance or eligibility to obtain is required. Significant travel (25-50%) is expected for customer engagements and internal planning.
