Footprint is an agentic AI platform that automates compliance program execution for banks and fintechs. The company's core product, Percy, learns each compliance team's procedures and runs financial crimes investigations end-to-end, reducing review workloads by 70%+. Built on four years of identity infrastructure, the platform enables organizational memory that compounds across KYC, EDD, sanctions, and monitoring functions. Footprint is backed by QED, Index, and Box Group, trusted by FDIC- and OCC-regulated banks and fintechs including Bilt, Nuvei, and MoonPay, and 5x'd revenue last year.
You are hired as the first Director of Sales to scale the sales organization from a high-performing but founder-led team into a repeatable, institutional sales machine. The current team comprises exceptional AEs closing real deals with banks and fintechs; your role is to codify what works, build the sales operating system, and manage the team as it grows.
You will own: (1) Executive presence on the largest strategic deals, taking point from first call through close; (2) Day-to-day coaching and development of the AE team, raising their ceiling and execution quality; (3) Building and institutionalizing the sales playbook—turning implicit knowledge into a low-friction, repeatable system for discovery, deal progression, multi-threading, and enterprise execution; (4) Pipeline discipline and forecasting, establishing clear stage criteria, CRM hygiene, and a rigorous forecast process; (5) Hiring, ramping, and developing new AEs as the team scales.
This is a player-coach role: you will carry 5–10 deals in your own name while managing the sales process and team. You report directly to the CEO.
Must-haves: quota-carrying experience selling into banks or regulated financial institutions (compliance, risk, financial-crimes functions); proven ability to build or scale a sales team in the 8–9 figure revenue range; personally closed enterprise deals in the last 12 months; demonstrated ability to develop AEs from good to great; built a sales playbook and forecast from scratch with measurable conversion results; quarterbacked complex deals without sales ops, enablement, or marketing support; comfortable traveling for deal closure.
Nice-to-haves: experience pricing AI usage or credit-based deals; background selling compliance, fraud, or financial-crime software.
90-day success: Sales framework live in HubSpot with pipeline reviews running against it; first version of playbook written; AEs report measurable improvement in selling skills. 1-year success: New AEs ramp to independent deal management in six weeks; team has grown without lowering bar; forecast is accurate enough to plan company strategy; regional and super-regional bank deals close in four-month cycles.
