Salary: USD 273,600 - 342,000 / annual
Scale is seeking a Director of Product Strategy for Physical AI to define long-term strategy and business positioning of frontier data products. Reporting to the General Manager of Physical AI, you will own product development and commercialization, collaborating closely with Operations, Engineering, GTM, Researchers, and ML Engineers to guide product direction and solve complex business challenges.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing long-term product portfolio strategy, identifying new growth opportunities and market trends, and building business cases for product investments. You will partner with researchers and ML engineers from prospective and existing customers to communicate Scale's value proposition and influence successful business outcomes. The role involves conducting competitive intelligence and customer research, driving cross-functional strategic initiatives with GTM and Operations, and thriving in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with ability to adjust priorities quickly.
As a hands-on leader, you will mentor and develop high-performing product managers, challenge existing norms, and address difficult conversations directly to elevate team performance. You will act as a dedicated coach who isn't afraid to get into the weeds and consistently share knowledge of industry trends and solutions.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or related technical field; 8+ years of enterprise product management, business operations, strategy, or related roles in fast-paced environments; and 4+ years of direct people management with demonstrated history of recruiting, mentoring, and developing high-performing product managers. Experience leading product strategy for complex hardware-software systems with deep domain knowledge in Robotics, Autonomous Vehicles, Computer Vision, and/or Machine Learning is strongly preferred. You must demonstrate strong analytical skills, data-driven and commercially-minded approach to developing product strategies, and ability to scale from 0 to $100M+ in ARR. Proven ability to develop strong consultative relationships with external partners and internal cross-functional teams at all levels, including VP and above, researchers, and customers is essential.
Nice-to-haves include MS or PhD (though strong practical experience is equally valued) and first-author publications at top-tier AI/ML conferences (NeurIPS, CVPR, ICRA, CoRL). Role is based in San Francisco with domestic and international travel expected (up to 30%).
