Metropolis Technologies is seeking a Director of Product, Payments to own the strategy, execution, and growth of the company's payment processing platform. Metropolis processes $5B in payments annually, with $1B currently running through its own platform—this role will own and expand that $1B business.
You will lead product strategy across payment processing, enterprise billing, client/revenue reporting, and revenue automation/reconciliation. Reporting to the Head of Product, you will be hands-on with strategy and execution while building cross-functional alignment with Engineering, Finance, and executive leadership. Over time, you will have the opportunity to build and lead a team of product managers in this domain.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the vision, strategy, and roadmap for payment processing, subscription billing, and revenue automation/reconciliation, ensuring accuracy, scalability, and reliability
- Managing Metropolis' payment processor relationships and strategy, including routing, fee structures, and partnership representation
- Defining client reporting strategy by working directly with Real Estate Partners (REPs) to understand their needs and exploring innovative approaches such as MCP-based or agentic data access rather than static dashboards
- Partnering closely with Engineering to set priorities and co-create platform solutions
- Defining and tracking key metrics such as reconciliation accuracy, billing cycle time, and revenue leakage to guide prioritization
- Communicating roadmap, progress, and risk to stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Finance, and executive leadership
- Recruiting, mentoring, and developing a team of product managers as the organization scales
Metropolis is pioneering the Recognition Economy, using AI to make the real world responsive. The company transforms parking into a seamless experience for millions of members and is expanding its intelligence layer across retail and hospitality.
The role requires 4 days per week in-office in Seattle to foster collaboration and innovation.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of product management experience with a track record owning payments, billing, or financial-systems products
- Deep understanding of payment processing (routing, reconciliation, PSP relationships) and enterprise/subscription billing
- Strong technical and data literacy, including comfort with financial data models, transaction schemas, SQL, and ledger systems
- Comfortable engaging with Engineering on system architecture and integration tradeoffs without needing to own them
- Strong analytical skills and data-driven approach to prioritization
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including with clients and executive leadership
- Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and drive clarity from complexity
- Experience leveraging AI tools to transform static workflows into responsive, high-output processes
PLUS (not required):
- Experience building and leading teams
- Domain experience in parking, transportation, or mobility
