Small Door is a membership-based veterinary care company reimagining the pet healthcare experience with human-grade standards. The Director of Product reports to the VP of Data and Technology and owns the complete product function end-to-end. This is a hands-on, senior builder role spanning consumer and staff-facing products: website, mobile app, booking, membership management, internal applications, and telehealth. The company is integrating two practice groups, and product decisions over the next year will shape the combined organization—offering significant leverage and impact.
Key responsibilities include owning the consumer product portfolio from discovery through launch and measurement; leading integration workstreams for the combined practices; driving monetization and conversion through pricing and funnel experiments; shipping the marketing website directly using AI-assisted React; building staff-facing tools for operations and medical workflows; conducting independent analysis using SQL and FullStory; managing vendor relationships; and running the product operating cadence.
You will work hands-on, building functional prototypes with AI tools (Claude), conducting your own QA, and running your own analysis rather than delegating. You'll partner closely with a senior engineering team as equals, treating technology as a peer function. The role requires comfort operating in a clinical environment, negotiating workflows with doctors and nurses, and knowing when automation needs human oversight.
Ideal candidates are senior, AI-native builders with strong writing skills, fluency in experimentation, and experience in multi-site consumer services or healthcare. Nice-to-haves include M&A integration exposure and familiarity with the stack (Braze, FullStory, LaunchDarkly, Vetspire). The role can be based in Montreal or New York City.
