Salary: USD 240,000 - 290,000 / annual
Skydio is the leading US autonomous drone company, serving defense, public safety, and enterprise customers. This Director of Product Management role owns the Cloud Platform & Infrastructure roadmap, delivering multi-cloud, multi-region, and government-compliant platform capabilities to scale globally across federal, state, local, and commercial customers. You will also own Skydio's on-premises product line, productizing air-gapped and self-hosted deployments into scalable, secure, high-impact solutions.
This is a senior individual-contributor role focused on converting field and sales pain into a tightly scoped, customer-centric roadmap and driving cross-functional programs to market. You'll work closely with SRE, cloud engineering, security & compliance, legal, GTM, and executive leadership to build platform foundations that unlock growth while maintaining the fast, simple, frictionless experience customers depend on.
Key responsibilities include:
- Running customer discovery with government and commercial customers to surface requirements, build business cases, validate solutions in the field, and communicate delivery expectations
- Owning the platform roadmap for Cloud Platform & Infrastructure by converting recurring pain and opportunities into prioritized, outcome-focused roadmaps with clear user stories and success criteria
- Productizing and delivering Skydio On-Prem offerings, including defining roadmaps for air-gapped and self-hosted deployments, leading cross-functional delivery, managing releases and onboarding, running pilots and rollouts, and supporting national security business growth
- Coordinating release planning, managing cut-downs and scope decisions, and communicating tradeoffs to internal teams and customers
- Translating regulatory requirements (FedRAMP, CJIS, etc.) into product and operational requirements; running cross-functional compliance programs and vendor/auditor interactions
- Evangelizing platform capabilities across the organization and enabling GTM teams to present platform value to customers
The role is based onsite 5 days/week at HQ in San Mateo, CA with 25-30% travel to customers as needed. Generous relocation assistance is offered.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of product experience shipping cloud platform, infrastructure, or developer-facing products, or adjacent technical products with ability to quickly gain working knowledge of unfamiliar infrastructure
- Exceptional product judgment; ability to recognize patterns across customer complaints and turn messy field pain into prioritized roadmaps driven to completion across teams you don't manage
- Demonstrated track record of turning customer pain into prioritized roadmaps and driving cross-functional programs to completion
- Experience shipping products under regulatory constraint (FedRAMP, CJIS, DoD RMF ideal; SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI, or financial regulatory work also counts); ability to translate regulatory controls into product requirements and run organizational workstreams
- Track record of shipping platform features that materially improved reliability, scalability, security, and/or cost; comfort making tradeoffs with incomplete data
- Strong program management and stakeholder influence skills; ability to align engineering, security, legal, sales, and customers without formal authority
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience briefing executives and external auditors
- U.S. citizen or Green Card holder (required due to export control laws and government contract requirements; no visa sponsorship offered)
- FAA Part 107 certification strongly encouraged within first 60 days; required for certain positions
