Salary: USD 175,000 - 215,000 / annual

Allocate is an intelligent infrastructure platform for private market investing, serving wealth advisory firms and fund managers. The company is scaling rapidly with strong product-market fit and has recently opened a new Palo Alto headquarters. As Director of People Operations & Talent, you will be the architect and operator of Allocate's full employee experience. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll build and lead the People function from the ground up, balancing strategic thinking with operational excellence. Key responsibilities include: • Own daily HR operations and establish foundational systems in partnership with the executive team and fractional people operations partners • Design and implement the full employee experience, from talent acquisition and onboarding through performance management, development, and offboarding • Build organizational design frameworks, anticipate hiring needs, and support managers in developing high-performing teams • Oversee performance management processes including talent reviews, feedback cycles, and engagement programs • Manage compensation, leveling, and benefits strategy; review titles and pay practices; build leveling frameworks; lead compensation and equity benchmarking • Own HR compliance, handbook updates, manager guidelines, investigations, multi-state compliance, and sensitive employee relations issues • Implement scalable HR systems, tools, documentation, dashboards, and analytics (headcount, attrition, recruiting metrics, compensation) • Lead HRIS transition away from current system and implement PEO solutions for international hires • Partner with external recruiting resources to build structured hiring processes, job templates, and consistent candidate experience You'll work closely with a trusted leadership team that values clarity, transparency, and operational excellence. The role requires balancing tactical day-to-day HR execution with strategic implementation of company-wide people strategy. Required qualifications: 7+ years of People/HR experience in high-growth tech, finance, or fintech; proven track record building or scaling a People function from early to growth stage; expertise across talent, performance, compensation, benefits, compliance, and employee relations; strong command of HRIS, ATS, and people analytics tools with specific PEO transition experience (Rippling, Justworks, etc.); exceptional communication and relationship-building skills; people-first, high-judgment decision-making approach; builder's mindset for creating clarity and structure in fast-moving environments. Nice to have: SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certifications. The role is full-time, on-site in Palo Alto with expectation of 4 days per week in office.
