As Director of Payroll Operations, you will lead end-to-end payroll execution and own a team of 80+ payroll professionals. This is a transformation mandate with full accountability for the payroll cycle, customer outcomes, and operational maturity.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the complete payroll cycle across all markets, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and SLA adherence
- Drive service quality that directly impacts customer health, retention, and revenue expansion
- Own payroll operations as a business function protecting and growing ARR
- Partner with In Country Teams (ICTs) to ensure seamless handoff into steady-state operations
- Build and execute a roadmap to mature team processes, tooling, and performance standards
- Champion AI-first thinking—identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation to reduce manual work and scale effectively
- Serve as escalation point for complex customer issues and drive urgent resolution
- Foster accountability, continuous improvement, and customer obsession across the team
You bring 10+ years of payroll operations experience with proven expertise managing full-cycle payroll at scale. You have demonstrated success leading large teams in customer-facing environments and working cross-functionally with implementation, product, and finance teams. You possess excellent executive-level communication skills, a revenue mindset, and data-driven decision-making capability. Experience in global workforce (payroll, EOR, AOR) and multi-country payroll complexity is essential. You actively explore how AI and automation can elevate team effectiveness and service quality at scale. You thrive in fast-moving environments and have scaled operations teams through growth or transformation phases.
