Salary: USD 180,000 - 200,000 / annual
Pair Eyewear seeks an experienced Director of Manufacturing to lead its Irvine optical lab and glasses manufacturing facility. You will own end-to-end production operations—from lens fabrication through final assembly—and serve as the site's single point of accountability for throughput, quality, cost, and people management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Full P&L and operating performance ownership for the Irvine facility, overseeing both lens lab and glasses manufacturing operations.
- Process efficiency improvement and bottleneck resolution to increase throughput without compromising quality or safety.
- Design and implementation of robust labor staffing and scheduling models, including shift planning, cross-training, and productivity measurement systems with clear per-operator and per-line targets.
- Cost-per-unit performance management, building visibility into cost drivers and executing structured cost-reduction initiatives.
- Establishment of rigorous site management practices: daily/weekly metrics reviews, standard operating procedures, and continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma-style) cadence.
- Cross-functional leadership with Procurement, Fulfillment, Logistics, and Customer Experience to meet fulfillment time, cost, quality, safety, and inventory standards.
- Strategic contribution to capacity planning, new product introduction, and infrastructure investment alongside the COO and R&D leadership.
- Equipment, tooling, and technology evaluation and implementation to improve throughput, quality, or cost.
- Recruitment, coaching, and development of a strong production leadership team with a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain management, or related field.
- 10–15 years of hands-on manufacturing operations leadership, including significant experience running a large single-site production facility (100+ associates) with full ownership of throughput, labor, and cost metrics.
- Demonstrated experience building or overhauling labor staffing and scheduling models.
- Proven track record of developing, coaching, training, and retaining top talent with high engagement levels.
Preferred qualifications include optical lab/RX lab manufacturing experience, advanced engineering degree, Lean Six Sigma certification, and experience with WMS, ERP, or MES systems.
