The company enables brands to build authentic relationships with communities through social interactions, personalized experiences, and AI-driven insights. As Director of Engineering, you will lead and scale the core engineering organization from ~50 people into the next phase of growth. This is an executive-level role that bridges technical vision, organizational strategy, and business execution. You will manage multiple engineering groups focused on customer-facing product development and a Forward Deployed Engineering function that moves fast across the full stack on high-priority enterprise initiatives. Key responsibilities include: - Leading, mentoring, and scaling high-performing engineering teams including Engineering Managers and Tech Leads - Building scalable organizational structures, career ladders, and succession plans - Partnering with the CEO and executive peers to define long-term roadmaps and align engineering capacity with business priorities - Setting technical strategy, architecture principles, and infrastructure roadmap for systems handling high-volume real-time data and AI agentic workflows - Driving operational rigor with clear metrics for delivery velocity, system reliability, code quality, and operational health - Engaging directly with enterprise customers to understand pain points and ensure technical investments map to business value - Shaping engineering culture and refining processes around architecture reviews, incident response, and resource allocation - Partnering with Talent Acquisition to scale the engineering department and drive hiring standards You bring 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3+ years in senior leadership (Director or Head of Engineering) managing managers and leading multi-team organizations. You have a proven track record scaling engineering teams through key growth phases (e.g., 30 to 100+ engineers). You combine deep technical depth with strong business and product instincts, translating complex objectives into achievable roadmaps. You excel at cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, Sales, and Customer Success in fast-paced startup environments, and you implement light-footprint processes that maintain speed without bureaucracy. Exceptional communication and executive presence are essential. Bonus experience includes B2B SaaS, social data platforms, or marketing technology leadership; overseeing AI-powered systems, real-time analytics, or agentic frameworks; familiarity with AWS, TypeScript/React, Postgres, ClickHouse, and infrastructure-as-code; and cross-platform leadership of web and native mobile ecosystems.
