Capchase is a fintech platform transforming how software and hardware companies finance and get paid. The company offers non-dilutive financing and flexible payment terms embedded directly into sales workflows, enabling faster deal closure. With $2B+ funded, approvals in seconds, and operations across 10 markets, Capchase serves 10K+ vendors and processes billions in payment volume annually.
As Director of Credit, you will lead credit underwriting for the company's largest and most complex transactions. This is a hands-on role requiring deep financial analysis, credit judgment, and the ability to structure deals that balance risk and growth.
Key responsibilities include:
**Large-Ticket Underwriting**: Personally underwrite transactions exceeding $500K, analyzing audited financials, agency ratings, leverage, coverage, and liquidity. Develop creative structures (upfront payments, amortization schedules, guaranties, vendor recourse) to approve deals that don't clear on standalone credit. Write credit memos and present to Credit Committee.
**Credit Authority & Escalations**: Hold delegated signing authority for sub-$500K transactions and serve as the escalation point for analysts, sales, and vendor partners. Provide same-day decisions with documented reasoning. Own exception discipline, including qualification criteria, approval workflows, and documentation standards.
**Syndication & Capital Markets**: Establish standards for external credit memos and diligence packages that enable third-party credit teams to approve Capchase files on first review. Collaborate on eligibility criteria, concentration limits, reps and warranties, and repurchase triggers. Develop new syndication relationships to place larger tickets.
**Leasing & Transaction Structure**: Apply lessor expertise to FMV vs. $1-out decisions, capital vs. operating treatment, residual assumptions, collateral perfection, and cross-border structuring across licensed markets.
**Credit Policy & Portfolio Management**: Co-own credit policy with VP Risk, including rating tiers, limit formulas, feature eligibility, and approval authority. Monitor portfolio health: watch lists, delinquency trends, concentration risk, and the loss vs. auto-approval trade-off.
**Automation & Systems**: Partner with decisioning systems (Taktile rules, PayNet, D&B/SBFE, Creditsafe, Experian) to calibrate scorecards and determine where human judgment adds value vs. where rules suffice. Pull data to support recommendations.
**Team Leadership**: Coach and calibrate first and second-line underwriters. Run credit calibration sessions to ensure quality and consistency across the standard book.
The role is driven by Capchase's rapid growth in high-ticket volume, expansion into adjacent products (leasing, receivables financing), and the need for a decisive credit leader who can underwrite complex files, build syndication relationships, and scale the credit function.
