Dandelion Health, founded in 2020 by experts in health tech, hospital systems, academia, and clinical AI, is building the world's largest AI training and clinical development platform. The company partners with major U.S. health systems to safely and ethically make de-identified patient data available to AI developers, currently working with Sharp HealthCare, Sanford Health, and Texas Health Resources, with two additional systems joining soon. The data spans over 10 million patients and includes structured EMR data, unstructured clinical notes, radiology reports, medical images (DICOM, pathology), video, waveforms, and continuous streaming monitoring data dating back to July 2016.
As Director of Business Development - Clinical AI, you will own the entire AI developer business and drive growth across three interconnected revenue streams: (1) the AHA AI TORCH, a first-of-its-kind framework for evaluating clinical AI algorithms using real-world data and expert clinical guidance; (2) direct AI training and validation partnerships with AI developers building and validating clinical AI products; and (3) Dandelion's Clinical AI Marketplace, where you recruit and contract AI developers whose algorithms generate revenue through pharma and life sciences projects.
You will report directly to the Chief Strategy Officer and own three primary responsibilities: closing deals across all three business lines, delivering revenue targets, and building the developer network and operational infrastructure that turns individual deals into a durable, compounding business. This is a hands-on role at an early-stage company where everyone pitches in. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, clinical informatics, data science, marketing, and product teams to achieve these aims.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing comprehensive growth strategy for the AI developer business; building a strong pipeline of AI developers for AHA AI TORCH and guiding them through the process; identifying and engaging key decision-makers within AI development, medical device, and digital health organizations; recruiting, contracting, and onboarding AI developers into the Clinical AI Marketplace with revenue-generating structures; building long-lasting relationships with developer clients through tailored solutions; collaborating with internal teams to ensure seamless customer experience and inform product and go-to-market strategies; achieving and exceeding sales targets through proactive outreach and strategic account management; maintaining up-to-date understanding of clinical AI landscape, competitor dynamics, and emerging validation/regulatory/payer requirements; and representing Dandelion at industry events and conferences.
You are not a typical sales executive but an ambitious, experienced commercial leader with advanced sales skills and credibility to be a trusted counterpart to AI developers ranging from seed-stage startups to established medtech companies. You can identify and foresee issues, proactively map out solutions and scenarios, communicate ideas and plans to all organizational levels, and document and share learnings. You are excited about being at the cutting edge of clinical data and AI infrastructure.
Qualifications: 5+ years of proven experience in B2B sales, business development, or partnerships, preferably with AI developers, clinical AI, or healthcare data products. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and building robust pipelines. Strong understanding of AI development, medical device, and digital health industries. Experience working with healthcare data (structured, unstructured, imaging, waveforms) or technical fluency to be credible with ML and data science teams. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with ability to bridge technical and non-technical conversations and communicate value to senior executives. Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Comfortable working in fast-paced, early-stage environment. Willingness to travel as needed for client meetings and industry events.
Preferred qualifications: Familiarity with clinical validation, regulatory, or payer considerations in AI adoption. Experience with marketplace, channel, or partner-revenue business models. Prior work supporting professional societies, healthcare providers, or research collaborations.
