REBEL is a B Corporation-certified returns recommerce marketplace that has transformed retail's $1 trillion returns problem into a sustainable model. The company partners with over 2,500 brands and offers shoppers discounts up to 70% on open-box products while diverting millions of pounds of returns from landfills annually. As Director of Brand Marketing, you will lead REBEL's organic brand presence and drive brand awareness, engagement, and earned reach. You'll partner directly with the CEO and leadership to set brand positioning and strategy, then translate that into content, campaigns, and cultural moments that resonate. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands how brands actually grow on the internet—not a role focused on managing agencies. You'll own social media strategy across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms, developing REBEL's voice and storytelling style to maximize virality and cultural relevance. You'll run a high-velocity test-and-learn content engine, set clear goals for organic reach and engagement, and personally help create breakthrough content. Earned media and PR are core responsibilities. You'll develop stories, build relationships with journalists, and secure high-impact coverage that reinforces REBEL's brand narrative. You'll also identify and manage creator partnerships focused on authentic storytelling rather than paid performance, turning customers and fans into brand advocates. You'll contribute to brand positioning and narrative alongside leadership, act as a day-to-day brand steward, support co-marketing partnerships and events, and work cross-functionally with growth, creative, and product teams. Over time, you'll grow into managing a small social and brand team, including contractors and freelancers. The ideal candidate has 7–10 years in brand marketing, social, PR, or cultural marketing with a proven track record of growing brands through organic social and earned media. You've created or contributed to viral, culturally resonant moments and have startup or challenger brand experience. You're an exceptional storyteller with deep understanding of how content spreads on social platforms, strong writing and creative instincts, and a data-informed but creatively led approach. You're comfortable operating without large teams or safety nets, have a builder mentality with bias toward action, and are willing to personally create, edit, post, and iterate.
