Salary: USD 231,000 - 260,000 / annual
Muon Space is seeking a Director of Manufacturing Architecture to own and evolve the production infrastructure systems that power spacecraft manufacturing at scale. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), scheduling, and integration layers that enable three distinct production modes: serial/rate production, new product introduction (NPI), and rapid prototyping.
Key responsibilities include architecting a next-generation production infrastructure that serves all three modes with a single coherent backbone; establishing standards, templates, and reusable artifacts for BOM/part/change management, routings, and work instructions; designing workflows and data models in partnership with production, supply chain, and quality teams; building dashboards and real-time visibility tools for production status and capacity; and coordinating cross-functionally with IT, quality, and supply chain to ensure clean system integration.
The role requires deep expertise in production fundamentals, demonstrated success standing up or scaling production infrastructure systems, and hands-on experience across multiple production modes. You will serve as the integrating owner and single point of contact for how spacecraft are planned, tracked, and built through company systems. The position has a path to managing the Production TPM team and requires strong analytical and interpersonal skills to work across engineering, production, quality, and supply chain functions.
This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week on-site in San Jose, CA. The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of manufacturing/production engineering experience, a B.S. in engineering (M.S. preferred), and ideally aerospace or high-reliability hardware production background.
