True Anomaly is building autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors to secure the space environment and counter threats. This is a founding Director-level role to establish and lead the industrial design function for hardware systems.
You will report directly to the Creative Director and be responsible for defining industrial design strategy, standards, and execution across spacecraft and space-based interceptor programs. This includes leading design aesthetics and craft discipline for hardware that operates in the most challenging domain—space. You'll work alongside hardware engineers from the earliest stages, ensuring design language expresses function and enhances performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Founding and building the industrial design team from the ground up
- Setting design standards and establishing design processes that integrate with engineering
- Leading design reviews and ensuring craft discipline across all hardware programs
- Collaborating with engineering, software design, and mission teams to solve complex hardware design challenges
- Representing design at the highest levels of government and military stakeholder reviews
- Recruiting and mentoring industrial designers who share commitment to both craft and mission
This role carries real impact: your work will be inspected at senior government levels, influence recruiting and customer confidence, and directly affect hardware destined for orbit. You'll define what industrial design means at True Anomaly during a critical growth phase when design input can meaningfully shape the product.
