Zapier is seeking a Director, India to lead the company's India entity as the senior-most, India-based leader. This is a pivotal role at a formative stage of Zapier's India presence. You will serve as both a statutory Board Director and General Manager, ensuring full legal, tax, and regulatory compliance while acting as the bridge between Zapier's global strategy and ground-level execution. You will report to Ryan Roccon (Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer) and partner closely with India-based managers, the Operating Committee, and external advisors at Deloitte. Key responsibilities include: - Serving as the primary liaison between India operations and global leadership, ensuring alignment and escalating key issues to the executive team - Leading overall India operations and translating global strategy into local execution with regular updates to US leadership - Acting as the senior-most site leader for all India-based employees, establishing governance rhythms and driving a high-performance, values-driven 100% remote team - Fulfilling statutory Board Director duties: attending board meetings, approving minutes and resolutions, and signing statutory filings - Ensuring full statutory, tax, and financial compliance of the Indian legal entity, serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors and Indian regulatory authorities - Partnering with Deloitte and internal finance on tax filings, audits, transfer pricing, and regulatory matters - Owning all India people decisions: hiring, compensation, performance management, and terminations - Partnering with HR on people strategy, talent decisions, employee relations, and local policy implementation, ensuring compliance with Indian labor law including POSH and state-specific requirements - Managing local vendor relationships - Identifying, monitoring, and mitigating key risks to India operations You bring 15-20+ years of experience, including 5+ years in India site leadership, GM, COO, or country-head roles for multinational companies. You have strong business acumen, knowledge of financial/legal entity/statutory compliance matters, and experience working with Big 4 firms and legal counsel on India entity matters. You demonstrate strong people leadership and hiring instincts in an Indian context, are comfortable with statutory director responsibilities and personal liability, and build trust quickly with India-based teams and global executives. You're an effective communicator who can drive results in complex, matrixed environments while remaining people-focused. Nice-to-have: prior experience setting up or scaling a Global Capability Center in India.
