Ascendis Pharma, a global biopharmaceutical company, is seeking a Director to lead and develop its Group Accounting & Reporting team. You will report to the VP of Group Accounting & Reporting and manage a team of six colleagues based in Hellerup, Denmark.
Key responsibilities include heading the technical accounting and reporting function to support the company's Vision 2030 strategy. You will oversee timely and compliant external financial reporting under IFRS standards (quarterly and annual reports), ensuring adherence to both IFRS and SEC regulations using advanced consolidation and reporting software. You will develop and maintain comprehensive accounting policies, addressing differences between IFRS and US GAAP.
Your role encompasses ensuring compliant accounting treatment of complex matters including lease accounting, material contracts, share-based payment arrangements, and partnership structures. You will establish IFRS reporting procedures across the global group and drive business partnering with Global Finance on technical accounting issues. Additionally, you will contribute to the thoughtful integration of AI and automation to enhance efficiency, quality, controls, and insight generation within the accounting function.
Required qualifications include a relevant academic degree (preferably cand.merc.aud.) and a minimum of 10 years of experience in audit and/or accounting. You must have strong expertise in IFRS accounting standards, experience preparing accounting memos and annual reports, and familiarity with US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. Experience working within global groups with multiple foreign entities and accounting frameworks is essential.
You should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and the capacity to navigate cross-functional tasks within Finance and collaborate across departments. An entrepreneurial mindset, proactive hands-on approach, and ability to thrive in a fast-moving, informal environment are critical. Fluent English communication is required. Travel of 10-20 days per year is expected.
