Loyal is a clinical-stage veterinary medicine company developing longevity drugs for dogs. The company is pioneering prescription drugs that target the underlying drivers of aging in canines, with lead program LOY-002 having completed two of three major FDA review sections as of early 2026. You will be the first hire to Loyal's finance team, reporting to the VP of Finance, and will own the company's financial planning and analysis function as the organization transitions from clinical stage to commercial operations. This is a foundational role where you will build the FP&A infrastructure from the ground up rather than inheriting an existing system. Key responsibilities include owning the integrated company-wide financial model (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) across pipeline programs and capital deployment scenarios. You will serve as the embedded finance partner to R&D leadership, building and maintaining clinical study budgets and forecasts driven by enrollment curves, site activation, per-patient costs, and CRO contract structures. You'll partner with CMC and manufacturing leadership on forecasts driven by campaign timing, tech transfer, and CMO contracts, implementing enhanced inventory and cost-of-goods tracking ahead of commercial launch. Additional duties include designing and running the annual budget and long-range plan with department-level target-setting and headcount planning, developing monthly forecast vs. actuals reporting with variance analysis, leading the selection and implementation of Loyal's FP&A platform, building quarterly board financial packages with standardized KPIs and cash runway narratives, and cross-training with accounting through close, audit, and system transitions. You will also help define how the function scales as the team expands with program and commercial milestones. The ideal candidate has 8-12 years of progressive finance and FP&A experience with meaningful time in animal health, biotech, pharma, or another R&D-heavy business that creates value through technical milestones. You must have owned clinical study financial planning, understand CMC and manufacturing financial planning, be an expert financial modeler, and have experience building FP&A infrastructure at a pre-revenue or early-revenue biotech organization.
