Spark Advisors is a fast-growing healthcare technology platform transforming Medicare advisory for brokers and seniors. The company combines AI, CRM, and client services to help 10,000+ brokers acquire, enroll, and support clients. Backed by Primary Ventures and Viewpoint Ventures, Spark was recognized as one of Inc. Magazine's Best Workplaces of 2025. You will own Spark's finance operating system end-to-end, architecting the systems, standards, and controls behind accurate commissions, agency finance, and accounting. This role starts as a systems-and-standards owner, transforming brittle, spreadsheet-based processes into scalable, auditable systems for commissions, marketing co-op, and reconciliation. You will have authority to set and enforce the standards behind them. Key responsibilities include: • Design and build the finance operating system: convert manual, spreadsheet/Airtable-based processes into scalable, auditable systems for commissions, marketing co-op, rate/override source-of-truth, and reconciliation. Set finance requirements for the Data team's commissions database/calculator and own build-vs-buy decisions. • Own financial accuracy end-to-end: set and enforce standards, controls, and reconciliation frameworks that ensure payments and financials are correct from upstream data through reconciliation to accounting and reporting. • Own accounting and controllership more directly, including AR, AP, and payroll standards and outcomes. Standards and accuracy accountability begin day one, with direct execution potentially following as the function matures. • Own and evolve the outsourced controllership relationship: direct, review, and accept the external accounting firm's monthly close and statements today, with an explicit path toward building internal capability to bring close/controllership in-house over time. • Own reporting integrity: keep financials and reporting trustworthy and on time, owning recurring and bespoke deliverables like lender/debt-facility reporting, diligence data rooms, and leadership requests. The role is hybrid based at Spark's Broadway office in NYC. Commission processing, disbursement, and banking runs remain with the existing agency-finance team; this role provides their work with an owned, well-designed system. GAAP close mechanics stay with the outsourced accounting firm today, with an explicit path toward this role absorbing more in-house.
