- Coaching the existing designer through close collaboration, actionable feedback, and clear expectations
- Establishing design reviews with cross-functional leadership; actively seeking and incorporating feedback

- Bringing Product and Engineering into direct customer learning to build ongoing understanding of customer needs
Requirements:
- Track record of leading design across complex products, taking ownership of design quality and influencing direction beyond own projects
- Exceptional taste demonstrated through recent shipped work with strong interaction design, visual craft, and meaningful customer impact
- Ability to articulate compelling design vision and translate it into clear standards, priorities, and shipped experiences
- Substantial hands-on design ability, including proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping methods, with willingness to personally tackle critical design problems
- Deep customer curiosity and experience building ongoing feedback loops connecting research, usability testing, and product data to decisions
- Experience raising quality of others' work through coaching, critique, and clear expectations
- Comfort with design reviews and feedback; ability to show how input from customers and colleagues improved work
- Strong partnerships with Product and Engineering leaders, balancing customer needs, business priorities, and technical constraints
- Proven conflict-resolution skills with examples of addressing consequential disagreements and guiding teams to decisions
- Confidence to advocate for quality with openness to change direction when evidence calls for it
- Experience building or improving design systems with strong foundation in accessibility and responsive design
- Practical experience designing AI-powered products and using AI in the design process
- Austin location with ability to work regularly in person with Build team and senior leadership
