Airwallex is a unified payments and financial platform serving over 250,000 global businesses. As Director of Credit Risk, you will lead the company's second-line oversight of credit, FX, and counterparty risk across a fast-growing, multi-currency global network. You report to the Senior Director of Financial Risk and own the global framework, risk appetite, limits, governance, and portfolio oversight for credit, FX, and counterparty exposures.
Key responsibilities include: defining and enhancing the global credit risk framework with policies, risk appetite thresholds, limits, and governance standards; overseeing credit exposures across merchant acquiring, charge cards, B2B activities, FX pre-funding, treasury, and settlement flows; reviewing and challenging first-line underwriting strategies, customer risk policies, and credit assessments; establishing second-line guardrails for FX exposures and monitoring them against approved tolerances; setting counterparty risk standards for banking partners, payment partners, merchants, and customers with appropriate exposure limits and concentration thresholds; leading proactive portfolio monitoring with early warning indicators for exposure, concentration, delinquency, default, and loss; reviewing loss mitigation strategies including collections, collateral, and reserves; partnering with Product, Engineering, Commercial, and Treasury on risk design for new products and market expansion; leading or supporting risk committee decisions and material risk approvals; and representing Credit Risk during regulatory examinations, audits, and partner reviews.
