Metropolis Technologies, an AI company transforming parking and mobility through computer vision and the Recognition Economy, is seeking a Director of Benefits to lead all company-wide benefit programs for 20,000+ employees. In this role, you will own end-to-end benefits strategy, administration, and compliance. You'll set competitive benefits strategy aligned with market trends, design and modify plans to attract and retain talent, and oversee all leave, PTO, and absence programs at scale. You'll manage plan funding, claims experience, and financial risk for self-insured health and welfare plans, serving as the primary interface with Finance on budgets and cost allocation. Key responsibilities include: establishing annual Open Enrollment strategy and communications; ensuring compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, and ACA; owning 401(k) governance and Form 5500 reporting; managing relationships with benefit carriers, brokers, consultants, and third-party administrators; and identifying opportunities to leverage AI and automation to streamline benefits processes and reduce manual work. You'll lead a team of four benefits professionals, setting clear expectations, prioritizing ruthlessly, and coaching team members through complex compliance and operational challenges. This is a hands-on player-coach role where you'll move fluidly between strategic planning and tactical execution—staying comfortable in the details of claims, compliance filings, and process improvements. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of benefits administration experience, including strategy, open enrollment, compliance, and financial responsibility. You'll have deep expertise in managing self-insured or self-funded health plans, including funding, stop-loss, and claims analysis. You're comfortable with HRIS systems like Workday, advanced Excel and reporting, and have a proven track record of using AI and automation to transform static workflows into responsive, high-output processes. You thrive in fast-paced, high-growth tech environments with shifting priorities and a builder's bias for action.
