WorkOS is a $2B Series C-funded developer platform that powers enterprise authentication, SSO, directory sync, and identity infrastructure for fast-growing companies including OpenAI, Cursor, Perplexity, Vercel, and Plaid. The company is at the frontier of AI-driven authentication and access control, helping enterprises answer critical questions about agent identity and permissions.
As a Design Engineer, you'll bridge design and engineering, working directly with the Product Design team to prototype, build, and ship polished experiences across WorkOS products including the Dashboard, Admin Portal, AuthKit, and Atlas. You'll be responsible for building production-quality components and interactions, experimenting with new interaction patterns, and raising the bar for craft across the platform.
Key responsibilities include: building and shipping production-quality components and interactions; prototyping concepts and experimenting with new interaction patterns; improving WorkDS (the design system) across performance, state, accessibility, and behavior; collaborating with product teams to validate ideas with customers; working in the open and sharing work-in-progress early; and contributing to company-wide improvements through design system work and AI agent instructions.
You should have a strong eye for design details, deep care for craft, and a track record of shipping polished products. You can articulate design decisions, think through alternatives, and weigh tradeoffs thoughtfully. You're comfortable with real-world complexity—edge cases, error states, accessibility, technical constraints—and ship, learn, and iterate without letting process slow you down. You're equally fluent in code and design tools (Figma/Paper), excited to explore new tools and workflows, and work AI-first with refined processes. You proactively spot design gaps and fix them without waiting to be asked, defaulting to transparency and collaboration.
Experience with small, high-agency, fast-paced teams is essential. Bonus qualifications include familiarity with TypeScript, React, Radix, developer tools, or enterprise software.
