Method Financial is hiring its first Design Engineer—a senior individual contributor who bridges frontend engineering and product design. You'll own the visual and interactive quality across Method's entire web presence: design system, marketing site, dashboard, and embedded partner experiences. Method is a developer-first financial connectivity platform that has processed $2.5B+ in payments and serves 45+ million users across 350+ million connected accounts. The company is backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator, and others, with 50+ people across Austin, SF, NYC, and DC. In this role, you'll spend most of your time writing code with an elite eye for design. Key responsibilities include: architecting a component library that supports dynamic, JSON-driven UI construction; building shader-based experiences using Three.js and WebGL for hero sections and branded interactive moments; redesigning the dashboard with considered transitions and polished data visualization; owning design system consistency across component states and motion; and reducing reliance on contractors by bringing production design and frontend craft in-house. You'll partner closely with Method's Head of Design to set aesthetic direction, make technical calls, and ship work. As the team grows, you'll help scope and hire adjacent design talent. Open source is part of this role—Method wants to build things worth sharing and establish credibility in the design and creative-coding communities. You're an individual contributor by nature with shipped interactive web work requiring shaders, Three.js, WebGL, and GLSL. You understand the full stack from GPU rendering to React architecture and have built production design systems others actually use. You have strong aesthetic opinions and the technical range to execute them independently. Experience at design studios, developer tooling companies, creative agencies, or indie dev work is expected. You're comfortable being the only person in this specialty initially and don't need structure to make progress. Depth and quality of experience matter more than years in title.
