Confido is an AI-powered operating system for consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands, serving 200+ companies like OLIPOP, Simple Mills, Dr. Squatch, and Tropicana. As a Design Engineer, you'll own significant surface area across a complex, interconnected product. This role bridges design and front-end engineering, requiring both craft and technical execution. You'll work closely with product and engineering teams to define not just visual design but the entire user experience for sophisticated workflow tools.
Key responsibilities include: shaping strategic direction of product and feature roadmaps; building working prototypes and validating them with real customers before full build-out; partnering tightly with engineering and product to define, prototype, and ship features—often within a single week; sweating the details of complex operator tools to make them feel effortless; refining design patterns directly in code and contributing to the design system; and shipping high-quality work within real constraints.
You bring 3–5 years of experience spanning both design and front-end engineering, ideally in B2B SaaS, enterprise tools, or complex workflow products. Your portfolio demonstrates strong product thinking, polished craft, and the ability to simplify hard problems. You have a track record of shipping large, ambiguous projects from zero to launch. You're proficient with AI tools like Cursor and Claude Code and have clear opinions on extracting high-quality output. You possess a strong eye for design—layout, motion, affordances, and visual polish—and communicate directly, influencing through the quality of your thinking.
You'll stand out if you ship opinionated work backed by taste and data; actively use AI tools in your workflow (not gimmicky); are interested in defining interaction patterns for human-AI agent collaboration; treat ambiguity as an invitation; stay current on AI research and tools; have designed financial or enterprise systems requiring complex systems thinking; or have experience in high-growth startups.
