Robinhood is seeking a Derivatives Risk Oversight Lead to join its Second Line of Defense team in London. This role is critical to safeguarding the financial stability of the company's derivatives trading operations, particularly within Bitstamp Financial Services (BFS).
You will lead the oversight and continuous enhancement of risk management frameworks across derivatives products and the BFS entity. Key responsibilities include:
• Supporting the Director of Risk in implementing financial risk management programs, with focus on market, product, counterparty, margin, collateral, and liquidity risks from spot and derivatives activities
• Providing independent monitoring of risk exposures and escalating breaches of approved limits, emphasizing trading-related risks and scalable control design
• Reviewing and validating risk models, assessing exposure metrics across derivatives products, and independently challenging product calculations, valuation logic, and model assumptions
• Defining and periodically reviewing margin methodologies, including initial margin, maintenance margin, liquidation thresholds, collateral haircuts, and stressed close-out assumptions
• Establishing counterparty risk frameworks and limits, independently monitoring exposures and concentration risk
• Conducting stress testing and scenario analysis to assess portfolio impact under adverse market conditions and extreme events
• Completing quarterly regulatory submissions under the MiFID license, including capital requirement calculations (ICAAP) and quantitative reporting
• Building or enhancing internal capital and liquidity models to account for derivatives-related risks, including perpetual swaps, leverage, funding mechanics, and stressed liquidity scenarios
• Developing key risk and early warning indicators in collaboration with first-line teams
• Establishing regular risk assessment processes covering daily monitoring, weekly/monthly deep dives, and formal escalation governance
• Acting as subject-matter expert on derivatives and trading risk, collaborating with Product, Operations, Compliance, Legal, and Technology teams
• Promoting a risk-aware culture and supporting regulatory-required risk training
This is a hybrid role requiring in-person attendance at least 3 days per week at the London office. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in derivatives risk management, regulatory compliance, and financial risk frameworks.
