Robinhood is seeking a Derivatives Risk Oversight Lead to join its Second Line of Defense team in Luxembourg, supporting the financial stability and risk management of its derivatives trading operations and Bitstamp Financial Services (BFS) entity.
In this role, you will lead the oversight and continuous enhancement of risk management frameworks across derivatives products. You will work closely with the Director of Risk to implement and manage comprehensive financial risk management programs, with particular focus on market, product, counterparty, margin, collateral, and liquidity risks arising from spot and derivatives activities.
Key responsibilities include:
• Provide independent monitoring of risk exposures across financial and operational risks, escalating breaches of approved limits with emphasis on trading-related risks and scalable control design.
• Review and validate risk models and exposure metrics across derivatives products and trading strategies, including independent challenge of product calculations, valuation logic, and model assumptions.
• Define and periodically review margin methodologies, assessing the adequacy of margin and collateral practices including initial margin, maintenance margin, liquidation thresholds, collateral haircuts, and concentration add-ons.
• Define counterparty risk frameworks and limits; independently monitor exposures and challenge limit utilization and concentration risk across spot and derivatives books.
• Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis to assess the impact of adverse market conditions on the derivatives portfolio, including design of independent house stress scenarios.
• Complete quarterly regulatory submissions required under the MiFID license, including capital requirement calculations (ICAAP) and quantitative reporting.
• Build or enhance internal capital and liquidity models accounting for new risks from derivatives trading, including perpetual swaps, leverage, funding mechanics, basis dislocations, and stressed liquidity.
• Participate in development of key risk and early warning indicators, collaborating with first-line teams on KPI/KRI thresholds and escalation triggers.
• Establish regular risk assessment processes covering daily monitoring, weekly and monthly deep dives, periodic model reviews, and formal escalation governance.
• Collaborate with Product, Operations, Compliance, Legal, and Technology teams to integrate risk management into business processes and decision-making.
• Report findings to management and regulatory authorities, highlighting key risk metrics, exposures, and mitigating actions.
The role is based in Luxembourg with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. You will be part of a high-performing, fast-moving team with ethics at the center of everything they do.
