Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history, delivering empirical geospatial data via a cloud platform to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors. As a Customer Success Manager for Commercial Markets, you will own the full account lifecycle post-sales, managing relationships with customers in agriculture and mapping verticals.
You will be a consultative strategist responsible for maximizing customer value realization and ensuring successful integration of Planet's imagery and geospatial solutions into customer workflows. Working closely with Account Executives, you'll develop unified commercial strategies, map long-term account trajectories, and identify expansion and renewal opportunities early. You will co-create success plans and quarterly business reviews that enable customers to measure and articulate ROI, build relationships across complex stakeholder networks, and lead cross-functional internal teams through critical account milestones.
Key responsibilities include owning gross and net retention metrics across your book of business, partnering with sales on account insights and forward-looking recommendations, equipping internal champions with data to advocate for partnerships, and navigating high-stakes customer situations with sound judgment.
You bring 4+ years of customer success, account management, or strategic customer-facing experience. You have working knowledge of remote sensing, GIS, or geospatial imagery products and can bridge technical workflows with commercial value. You're a thought partner who asks reframing questions, understands commercial business models, and reads between the lines to adjust your approach dynamically. Excellent communication skills, professional presence, and flexibility for global business needs including US calls are essential. Willingness to travel to connect with customers and teams is required.
Standout candidates have agriculture sector experience, proficiency with CRM/CS tools (Salesforce, Gainsight, Zendesk), ability to translate customer data into actionable insights, and experience leading organizational change management. This is a full-time hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in San Francisco or Washington DC office.
