Factory is hiring its first Customer Marketing Lead to build the customer evidence and advocacy function from the ground up. Factory is a self-improving software development platform used by enterprise engineering teams at companies like Nvidia, Blackstone, RBC, Palo Alto Networks, Adobe, and T-Mobile. The company raised $200M at a $5B valuation in 2026 and is backed by Khosla Ventures, Sequoia, Blackstone, and operators including the CEOs of Databricks and Snowflake.
In this founding role, you will own the entire customer marketing function end-to-end. Key responsibilities include:
- Build and own the customer evidence engine: develop case studies, customer stories, testimonials, video content, and quantified proof points that Sales, Marketing, and Analyst Relations use daily.
- Establish and run a customer advisory board: recruit members, set agendas, run sessions, and ensure it meaningfully influences product roadmap decisions.
- Get customers on stage: build a program to encourage public speaking at Factory events, industry conferences, podcasts, and webinars, managing the entire process from initial outreach through legal review and execution.
- Build toward Factory's first customer conference: partner with field and events teams to own the customer experience, speaker selection, messaging, and outcomes.
- Understand and activate large enterprise customers: develop deep knowledge of how major accounts operate and engage them in mutually valuable ways.
- Partner closely with Sales: create mechanisms for reps to quickly access references, stories, and customer speakers.
- Bring customer insights back into the company: synthesize customer feedback to inform positioning, category narrative, and product strategy.
- Hire and develop your team: recruit a case study and content lead within the first few months and build the function as programs scale.
- Demonstrate impact: track evidence produced, references delivered, speakers placed, advisory board engagement, and influence on pipeline and expansion.
You will work in-office in San Francisco five days per week, walking distance to Caltrain.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience leading customer marketing, customer advocacy, or customer programs as the senior-most person in the function, with a track record of building programs from scratch rather than inheriting them.
- Experience hiring and managing marketers, or clear readiness to build a small team.
- Background at a company selling to large enterprises with complex, multi-stakeholder, long-cycle buying processes.
- Portfolio of customer evidence you personally produced: case studies, customer video, or reference programs you built.
- Track record of working closely with Sales and securing enterprise customer commitments for public speaking.
- Comfort with technical audiences (engineering leaders, platform teams, developers); ability to learn the AI coding-agent category quickly.
- Excellent judgment and discretion with customer relationships, confidential logos, and pre-release information.
- Based in San Francisco and committed to in-office collaboration five days per week.
