Octus is a leading global provider of credit intelligence, data, and analytics serving hedge funds, investment banks, management consultants, and law firms since 2013. This Credit Analyst role focuses on stressed and distressed private filers across leveraged loans and high-yield bonds, from early warning signs through liability management exercises and chapter 11 proceedings.
You will conduct deep-dive credit analysis on an assigned coverage portfolio, establishing competence in unfamiliar sectors and complex capital structures under compressed timeframes. Key responsibilities include maintaining continuous surveillance of issuer performance, capital structure developments, sponsor actions, and rating changes; identifying early indicators of credit deterioration; building financial models and conducting recovery/waterfall analysis across the capital structure; reviewing credit agreements and indentures to assess borrower flexibility and creditor implications; analyzing transactions, amendments, exchanges, and restructuring outcomes with estimated recovery rates; and contributing to thematic research on sector stress and market trends.
You will write and publish research notes leading with analytical conclusions, collaborate with legal analysts and reporters, and engage directly with subscribers on live situations, client calls, and webinars. The role requires strong financial modeling skills (three-statement and forward models), deep accounting knowledge, excellent writing ability, and client-facing communication skills. Preferred experience includes direct exposure to liability management exercises, restructurings, or chapter 11 cases as a creditor, advisor, or lender, plus familiarity with the full chapter 11 process including DIP structures, plan classification, and valuation disputes.
