Hims & Hers, a leading health and wellness platform and NYSE-traded public company, is building a new in-house video production arm for paid social. The Creative Lead is a foundational hire in this new pod, responsible for bringing high-volume ad production in-house to accelerate creative output across both the Hims and Hers brands and all product categories.
This is a hands-on, creative leadership role based in Los Angeles with in-person attendance on set on a varied schedule that follows production shoots rather than a traditional office week. You will serve as the creative engine of the pod, partnering closely with a marketing Creative Strategist who sets initial vision, direction, and scripts. Your responsibility is to translate that strategic direction into fully realized visual execution—directing shoots, shaping the visual look, and collaborating with producers and editorial teams to move concepts from idea through launch at high volume.
Key responsibilities include: partnering with the Creative Strategist from concept stage to translate vision into visual approach; owning end-to-end visual execution from script to launched ad; directing shoots in person with real-time notes to talent and crew, and operating camera yourself for lean setups; adjusting copy on set to keep words and visuals aligned; shooting 5-10 variants per concept for post-production iteration; collaborating with producers on shoot planning (locations, talent, props, wardrobe, shot lists); working closely with editorial and post-production on every cut with clear, specific feedback; maintaining high craft standards across composition, typography, color, motion, and voice despite high volume and speed; and translating performance data back into visual direction for future concepts.
This role requires wearing multiple hats in a lean, fast-moving in-house team environment. You'll adapt quickly as priorities, categories, and brands shift, and you'll work across both Hims and Hers product lines, taking direction from strategists on either business line.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6 to 9 years of experience in art direction, video direction, or design, with copywriting or scripting as a secondary skill
- Portfolio spanning concept development and video-first paid social or branded content (not just execution of others' briefs)
- Demonstrated experience developing visual treatments and giving clear creative direction to crews, talent, and editors
- Hands-on shooting experience; comfortable operating a camera yourself for lean shoots, not only directing
- Ability to contribute to copy, hooks, or scripts when useful (though scripts are typically owned by the Creative Strategist)
- Proven ability to concept and ship video-first ads quickly in fast-paced, high-volume environments, balancing craft and business needs
- Deep understanding of platform best practices for Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Snap, and emerging short-form formats
- Comfort collaborating across functions with editorial, production, and other internal creative teams, including distributed or offshore teams
- Ability to adapt your craft and creative point of view across multiple brands, categories, and audiences within a shared production system
- Strong creative instincts in visual storytelling and voice; proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and relevant AI creative tools
- Comfort working with performance data as a guide for creative decisions, balancing creative risk against business constraints
- Go-getter mentality; comfortable wearing multiple hats and adapting fast in a lean, fast-moving in-house team structure
- Portfolio requirement: Include a link showing your role in concept development, storyboarding, visual direction, and scripting/copywriting where relevant. Be clear about your specific contribution (concept, storyboard, director, DP, writer, editor) on each project.
