Re:Build Manufacturing, part of a family of industrial businesses focused on revitalizing U.S. manufacturing, is seeking a Cost Accountant to join their Kalamazoo, Michigan office in a hybrid arrangement. This role reports directly to the Site Controller and sits at the intersection of manufacturing operations and business development.
You will own cost accounting for a contract manufacturing and design-to-build environment, working with diverse product portfolios spanning medical devices, consumer goods, industrial equipment, and electronics. Key responsibilities include analyzing and maintaining standard costs across materials, labor, and overhead; partnering with manufacturing teams to identify cost drivers and operational efficiencies; developing detailed cost estimates and pricing models for new business proposals; monitoring cost variances and inventory valuation; and supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
You'll collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and sales teams to align cost assumptions with business strategy, evaluate pricing structures for profitability, and continuously improve costing methodologies and reporting tools. The role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in ERP systems and Excel, and a solid understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with 3+ years of cost accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing. Experience in contract manufacturing or design-to-build environments is valued. You should be detail-oriented, able to communicate financial insights clearly across departments, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment where you can take on increasing responsibility with experienced coaching and team support.
