Palmetto is a leading clean energy technology company offering end-to-end solutions for whole-home electrification, operating at the intersection of B2B and D2C with software, financial products, and services. This Corporate Counsel role reports to the Assistant General Counsel and focuses on litigation management, regulatory risk, and dispute resolution.
Key responsibilities include managing the company's full litigation portfolio from pre-litigation disputes through resolution, including active lawsuits, arbitrations, and escalated disputes. You will proactively manage regulatory investigations and inquiries (attorney general investigations, contractor board complaints) by developing resolutions and building relationships with regulatory offices. The role encompasses managing insurance claims from filing through resolution, partnering with insurance and risk teams on streamlined claims processes.
You will select, retain, and manage outside counsel, negotiating engagement terms, setting case budgets, and monitoring performance against litigation objectives. Strategic duties include developing and executing litigation strategy—drafting and reviewing pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and settlement agreements. You'll oversee e-discovery processes including preservation, collection, review, and production of electronically stored information in coordination with IT and business teams.
Day-to-day counsel to internal stakeholders covers litigation risk assessment, dispute avoidance strategies, and escalation procedures, including advising on litigation holds and document retention obligations. You will evaluate and drive dispute resolution through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation aligned with business objectives and risk tolerance. The role includes monitoring and reporting on the litigation portfolio—maintaining matter management systems, tracking costs, trends, and risk factors, providing actionable feedback to business leaders.
Additional responsibilities include developing and presenting training on litigation risk mitigation, document retention, and best practices across the organization, and supporting other initiatives as assigned by the Assistant General Counsel.
