Salary: USD 300,000 - 450,000 / annual
Standard Bots builds AI-native industrial robot arms deployed at manufacturing facilities across the U.S. Following a $200M Series C at $1B valuation (June 2026), the company is building financial infrastructure toward an eventual IPO. The Corporate Controller will own the full accounting function, designing controls and audit readiness from the ground up.
Key responsibilities include: owning the monthly, quarterly, and annual close with a focus on compressing timelines to public-company standards; designing and implementing the internal control environment using the COSO framework, segregation of duties, and SOX-caliber documentation; leading selection and management of a PCAOB-registered external audit firm and serving as primary contact through the full audit cycle; and building the internal audit function as the company scales.
On the technical accounting side, the role involves owning US GAAP compliance including ASC 606 revenue recognition (hardware, services, deferred revenue), inventory and standard costing, and stock-based compensation. The Controller will author technical accounting position memos, manage equity and stock plan administration (ASC 718, cap table systems, 409A valuations), and build SEC reporting readiness including 10-K/10-Q drafting and XBRL tagging.
Systems and process work includes leading the accounting workstream of an ERP implementation (migrating from QuickBooks Online), writing company-wide policies (procure-to-pay, T&E, close calendar, delegation of authority), and leveraging AI and automation to scale the function efficiently. The Controller will build and mentor the accounting team as the company grows and partner with the Senior Finance Manager on budget-vs-actuals reporting and forecast accuracy.
The ideal candidate has 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, a CPA (Big 4 or national firm foundation strongly preferred), and public-company experience—ideally having taken a company through an IPO (S-1 process, SOX 404 implementation) or operated the close and controls of a public company under PCAOB audit. Manufacturing or hardware experience with inventory and standard costing is strongly preferred, as is ERP implementation experience. The role requires a hands-on operating style, comfort with aggressive deadlines, and curiosity about applying AI tools to accounting processes.
