Fireworks is a Series D AI infrastructure platform (valued at $17.5B) that enables companies to build, train, and serve AI models tailored to their data and workflows. You will own and scale Fireworks' core accounting operations as the business grows rapidly. This is a hands-on role managing the general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting while building the processes, controls, and systems needed to support a high-growth AI infrastructure business. Key responsibilities include: - Owning the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting - Managing journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, leases, payroll accounts, and intercompany activity - Maintaining balance sheet integrity through detailed reconciliations, aging analysis, and variance review - Developing and improving close calendars, reconciliation standards, and review controls for faster, more scalable closes - Partnering with FP&A on monthly flux analysis, management reporting, and variance investigation - Owning accounting for significant infrastructure and compute-related spend (cloud hosting, GPU capacity, data center costs, prepaid commitments, vendor accruals) - Evaluating and documenting accounting treatment for capitalized software and internal-use technology under ASC 350-40 - Managing the fixed asset lifecycle including additions, depreciation, disposals, and reconciliations - Owning lease accounting under ASC 842, including new lease setup, modifications, and amortization schedules - Reviewing procurement and vendor activity for proper period, entity, and account recording - Partnering with Procurement and AP to improve purchase-to-pay and accrual processes - Developing accounting policies, process documentation, and internal controls - Supporting SOX-ready control design as the company matures - Serving as primary contact for external auditors and preparing audit-ready schedules and documentation - Identifying opportunities to automate manual workflows using ERP functionality, SQL, and AI-enabled processes - Partnering with Engineering and Data teams on accounting processes dependent on operational data - Supporting ERP implementations and enhancements - Assisting with tax, insurance, compliance, and due diligence projects - Reviewing accounting team member work and developing scalable team processes Success in the first 6–12 months means establishing a reliable month-end close, improving balance sheet reconciliation quality, building controls around accruals and infrastructure spend, creating scalable processes for high-volume cloud/GPU vendor activity, reducing manual workflows through automation, strengthening audit readiness, and creating a GL environment that supports rapid growth without proportional manual effort increases. REQUIREMENTS: - 6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in high-growth technology, SaaS, cloud infrastructure, or similarly complex operating environments - Strong experience owning the general ledger and month-end close - Deep understanding of accrual accounting, reconciliations, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, leases, payroll accounting, and financial statement presentation - Experience developing and improving accounting processes in fast-growing organizations - Strong technical accounting knowledge, including familiarity with ASC 350-40 and ASC 842 - Experience supporting external audits and preparing high-quality accounting documentation - Strong systems orientation and experience with ERPs such as NetSuite - Comfort working with large datasets and using tools such as SQL, BigQuery, reconciliation platforms, or other finance data tools - Strong cross-functional communication skills and experience partnering with FP&A, Engineering, Procurement, Legal, Payroll, and business teams - Ability to identify process gaps, design scalable solutions, and operate effectively with limited structure - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA eligibility preferred
