ClearGov is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting organization and build a scalable finance function for a growing SaaS company serving the public sector. Reporting to the CFO, you will own the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting, strengthen the monthly close process, lead annual audit and tax processes, establish internal controls, and develop a high-performing accounting team.
Key responsibilities include leading all accounting operations (general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed assets, revenue recognition), owning the monthly/quarterly/annual close process and continuously improving speed and accuracy, preparing and reviewing financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP, ensuring balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled and supported, establishing accounting policies and procedures, researching technical accounting matters, and maintaining strong understanding of financial results.
You will also lead the external audit process, manage tax compliance and planning, establish and maintain internal controls and SOX compliance, oversee accounting systems and technology, and mentor and develop the accounting team.
This role is ideal for an experienced accounting leader comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on. You should be able to step into details when needed, identify gaps, establish strong processes and controls, and build the accounting infrastructure required to support a growing SaaS business.
