AirGarage is building a digital operating system for parking real estate, replacing fragmented manual processes with unified software that handles payments, dynamic pricing, enforcement, license plate recognition, and analytics. The company serves major real estate owners like Hines and Greystar, as well as tech companies like Meta, and is backed by top-tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz and Founders Fund. As Controller, you will be the architect and owner of AirGarage's accounting function, responsible for building the financial foundation of a fast-scaling, capital-intensive business. This is a builder's role focused on modernizing systems and processes as the company grows from scrappy to scalable. Key responsibilities include: leading the monthly close and continuously shortening it; owning revenue recognition, reconciliations, AP/AR, payroll coordination, and P&L/balance sheet integrity; converting the company to true accrual accounting with proper GAAP revenue recognition for a transactional, multi-location, revenue-share business; leading the migration from QuickBooks to a modern ERP system (selection, implementation, data migration, integrations); rebuilding the chart of accounts for clean location-level, team-level, and corporate reporting; connecting accounting to data systems to create one source of truth; managing parking taxes, regulatory fees, and multi-jurisdiction sales/use tax compliance; establishing controls and processes for financial statement audits; managing and developing the in-house accounting team; and partnering across Operations, Sales, and Product to ensure accurate billing, collection, and revenue reporting. You will report to the CEO initially and to finance leadership as the team grows. This is the cornerstone accounting seat where you will set the standard for excellence and build processes that allow a lean team to punch above its weight.
