Scale's Generative AI business unit is seeking a Contributor Experience Manager to lead community engagement and operations for hundreds of thousands of expert contributors on their platform. This strategic operational role combines program management, communications, and community building to shape contributor culture and drive business outcomes.
You will own the end-to-end contributor experience, managing communications, virtual events, and retention strategies across internal platforms (Outlier Community) and external channels (Reddit, social media). Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute strategies to increase contributor participation and satisfaction
- Build systems to efficiently manage questions, feedback, and disputes across multiple platforms
- Set direction for multi-team initiatives and inspire cross-functional alignment
- Organize virtual events and monitor community sentiment to proactively mitigate risks
- Leverage user feedback and quantitative metrics to drive product and operational improvements
- Lead and enable a team, fostering ownership and removing structural blockers
- Collaborate with operations, support, communications, marketing, and legal teams
- Draft all contributor-facing communications, maintaining consistent messaging throughout the contributor journey
The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in communications, marketing operations, field operations, program management, or project management, with proven experience managing large-scale communities (thousands of members) on platforms like Slack, Discord, or Discourse. You should have exceptional written communication skills, a data-driven mindset, and the ability to synthesize complex information into accessible content. Experience with SQL and/or Claude Code for data analysis is valued. You will manage at least one direct report and demonstrate high ownership orientation with willingness to execute operational tasks directly.
