OnePay is a consumer fintech platform offering banking, high-yield savings, credit cards, point-of-sale lending, investing, and crypto services. Backed by Walmart and Ribbit Capital, the company is building an all-in-one financial services platform for millions of Americans.
As Consumer Communications & New Media Manager, you will own OnePay's media strategy and relationships, serving as the connective tissue between the company and the journalists, podcasters, newsletter writers, and content creators who shape consumer opinion. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role where you own programs end-to-end rather than executing a calendar.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with reporters, producers, podcasters, Substackers, live show hosts, and new media creators across finance, tech, culture, and lifestyle verticals
- Pitch OnePay stories and secure placements including reviews, guest appearances, interviews, newsletter features, and live show segments
- Manage inbound media requests and prioritize high-impact opportunities
- Develop and manage ongoing new media partnerships to extend OnePay's consumer reach
- Write and edit pitches, briefing documents, talking points, and Q&A prep tailored to new media formats
- Monitor media coverage and sentiment, flagging risks and opportunities to leadership
- Partner with legal and compliance teams on messaging in a regulated fintech environment
- Represent OnePay directly in interviews and media appearances as needed
The role requires someone comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment, with low ego, exceptional execution skills, and genuine hunger to move quickly. You'll work in a culture that values builders and operators.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in communications, PR, or new media/creator relations (in-house or agency)
- Active, demonstrated relationships with reporters, podcasters, Substackers, live show hosts, and other new media creators
- Excellent writing and pitching skills; ability to craft stories that resonate with hosts and creators
- Comfort navigating fast-moving, informal media formats (live shows, podcasts) alongside traditional press norms
- Drive and proactivity; demonstrated ability to execute independently
