Anthropic is scaling compute infrastructure internationally and seeks a Compute Country Lead to own the end-to-end strategy and execution of the company's compute build-out in Korea. This is a high-ambiguity, high-trust leadership role for someone who can bring structure to a fast-growing, cross-functional effort.
You will serve as the single accountable owner of Anthropic's compute strategy in Korea, leading a cross-functional team of specialists in site selection, leasing, energy, financing, government relations, policy, community engagement, construction, and operations. While specialist functions are hired and managed centrally by functional leads in San Francisco, you will provide in-country cross-functional leadership: coordinating workstreams, driving accountability, and representing Anthropic externally with government and industry counterparts.
Key responsibilities include owning the end-to-end strategy from site selection through construction and operations; serving as the primary point of accountability across leasing, financing, energy, government relations, community engagement, construction, and operations workstreams; providing working leadership to the in-country team to drive alignment and unblock issues; representing Anthropic with government officials, utilities, and energy providers; building relationships within Korean government and the energy industry; tracking progress and surfacing risks as the compute footprint scales to multiple gigawatts; and translating between global compute priorities and Korea's specific regulatory, political, and market conditions.
Ideal candidates are Korean nationals with established links into government and the energy industry, structured thinkers who learn new domains quickly, excellent communicators comfortable with senior stakeholders, and experienced at leading cross-functional teams without direct authority. Background in energy, infrastructure, or related sectors is expected. Nice-to-haves include large-scale infrastructure or datacenter development experience, existing relationships with Korean government bodies, capital-intensive project management, and familiarity with compute/cloud/datacenter industries.
