Lightning AI is seeking a Compensation Specialist to own compensation strategy, modeling, and execution at a rapidly scaling AI infrastructure company. Founded in 2019 and recently merged with Voltage Park, Lightning AI provides an end-to-end platform for developing, training, and deploying AI systems, serving researchers, startups, and enterprises globally.
This is a hands-on build role where you'll own the compensation and equity models that drive business decisions. You'll be responsible for building and maintaining complex comp models, ranges, and scenario tools—including cash-versus-equity tradeoffs—that the company operationally relies on. You'll run annual and off-cycle compensation planning end-to-end, from strategy through budget to execution, staying involved through final approvals.
Key responsibilities include benchmarking compensation against AI, infrastructure, and tech competitors using tools like Radford, Pave, OpenComp, and Levels.fyi, then translating market data into clear, actionable recommendations. You'll develop offer decisioning frameworks, leveling guidance, and performance-cycle resources that cross-functional teams use to move faster and with confidence. You'll support performance cycles by ensuring comp inputs into reviews and calibrations remain accurate, consistent, and aligned with strategy.
You'll also build reporting and dashboards that surface pay equity, offer competitiveness, and retention risk, enabling smarter decision-making over time. This role treats compensation as a modeling and analytics problem first, requiring someone who prefers to build models rather than hand them off.
Required: 3+ years in compensation, strategic finance, FP&A, analytics, or a comparably quantitative role with real ownership of comp planning and underlying models. You'll need strong modeling and analytical skills, proven ability to drive compensation planning aligned with business and People strategy, and comfort translating complex data into clear guidance for stakeholders.
